Physio Science

The key focus “Physio Science” of the research area Health Sciences at the Institute of Health Sciences pursues the objective of continuously analysing, further developing, and improving physiotherapy practice.

In this context, one emphasis of applied clinical research is on the evaluation of both established and newly emerging examination and treatment methods for patient- and client-oriented care.

Diverse research projects and collaborations, for example with the Center for Digital Health and Social Innovation  (CDHI), deal with the use of innovative technologies in motion and gait analysis, the application of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to various (musculoskeletal) symptoms, and the therapeutic benefit of virtual and augmented reality, to name only a few examples.

Moreover, special attention is paid to the fields of disease prevention and health promotion. In close interprofessional collaboration with other research areas, institutes, and external partners, innovative offers for various target groups are developed in order to provide these with the best possible support.

Together with the research area Lifelong Learning (LLL), another emphasis is on the promotion of interprofessional exchange between the health professions and on the development of new teaching strategies and educational concepts for the education and further training of students and professionals.
